Carnatic Music Seminar

Carnatic music is a well-known system of classical music which originated and is widely practiced in Southern India. The system is very ancient but it was during the 15 century AD that the current system was formatted which enabled the music to be taught widespread in a structured fashion. The aim of the  workshop is to focus on multiple aspects of this form of music to enable better understanding.

Vidya Sridhar is a Carnatic vocalist and teacher. Having privately trained in Carnatic music for over 15 years, Vidya has performed in India and the USA. She lives in Sinking Spring, PA with her husband, Dr. Gopalan Sridhar and their children, Sashank and Sindura. Vidya is also works as a Principal Technical specialist Lancaster Laboratories and holds masters degrees in Masters in Polymer Science and Technology and Organic Chemistry. Vidya has been teaching Classical Indian music in the Sinking Spring Area since 2004 and also teaches music online over skype. She and her students have performed at various temples in the Delaware, Harrisburg and New Jersey areas. Vidya has also performed in various places in India and has given concerts for All India Radio, Delhi.
